Why did the Gnostics make a Book of Judas defending Judas if he really did betray Jesus?

Why would they need to create a book trying to say how Jesus asked Judas to do it?
well if the Gnostics didnt write it, who did?
you are correct in saying that early Christians used many writings.

But that’s why the Catholic Church was needed. ^_^
