Did the Roman soldiers pierce Jesus to make a sacrifice or to make sure he was dead?

Les B asked:
Since when does death produce eternal life. And how and what is the principle and what conclusion did it serve?
If Jesus was supposed to be sacrificed what difference would there be now if a mistake was made and someone else died in the place of Jesus? How ould the world be now?

Is it ok to try another religion?

peexinxmyxpants asked:
I’m Catholic, but many of my friends are of other religions. I have always been open to new ideas that don’t really involve anything too bizarre or unhealthy, one of which including that of religious aspirations. But from any religion’s background and stand point, is it wrong to try different religions? I find many good things in other religions, including the one religion I’ve grown up with, and I find many likes and a few dislikes about all of them. But what I’ve never been able to ensue is the answer to my question: Is it ok to try other religions? and at that rate, convert to other religions? can you tell me your opinion?

I think Science and religion can stregthen each other, for example, Evolution theory and creation theory can go hand in hand. While Christian accounts give the outline of how God created the world, science tells exactly how it was done.

If Jesus had had to deal with yahoo censors would you have ever been saved?

I have not read in the Bible where it says Jesus was politically correct. I do not believe he pussy-footed around town trying not to offend someone. He believed that his words were law and they were for the benefit of everyone. Yahoo has the roles mixed up.
NOTICE TO YAHOO. If you had been censoring Jesus your ass would be mud.

Is it possible that religion was created as a way to control people?

DougEfresh asked:
Back in ancient times people were out of control and had no reason to listen to anybody. So is it possible that a group of the smartest thinkers of the time developed religion as a way to somewhat control people’s actions by making them believe there would be consequences after you die for the actions you take in life. I am one of those people that just doesnt know whats up there and this is one of the possiblilites that I think sounds quite reasonable.

Hammy asked:
I want something that’s unbiased and presents both sides of the argument. One that presents the most arguments and criticisms and covers all areas, like arguments for and against the existence of god and the religious belief system and stuff like that. I read Peter Vardy’s ‘The Thinkers Guide to God’ and couldn’t help thinking it was a little bias towards religion.

Yes, I’m aware I already asked this on the Religion and Spirituality section but I didn’t get any helpful answers and I hope I will get it here. After all, it is to do with philosophy.
