Is religion a possible trigger for people susceptible to schizophrenia?

Many religious encourage believing voices in one’s head, ideas, can be from outside. outside of one’s brain. Can religion trigger schizophrenia in people with predisposition for it?

    To get schizophrenia you have to have the genes. From there, it’s thought a major stressful event is needed to trigger it. So, if religion can cause sufficient stress, then perhaps. Just encouraging ppl to hear voices, etc, probably isn’t gonna do it.
