Nick M asked:

We are sometimes transformed by certain events in our life. We then have a story to tell. We might attribute the transformation to God. We might also find some magical connection between our story and the words written in certain scriptures. Question is when does “bearing testimony” become God peddling?

Okay, uh …ever see Burt Lancaster as Elmer Gantry? That’s “God peddling”.
    Mother Theresa is “bearing testimony”.
See the difference? Because that’s the best I can explain it.

like al pacino said in devil’s advocate: “when something good happens, it’s God’s will–when something bad happens, ‘He works in mysterious ways’ “

To my mind, the difference is in the context: if it’s welcome, and part of the deal (during church services, for instance), or is bothering people who aren’t interested.
