Matt G asked:

I am looking to do some reading from philosphers on the existence of God or there not being a God. What are some must reads?

Nietzsche’s “The Antichrist” is the best ever written.

    Here’s one you might enjoy:

I’ve got access to many other such, if you’re interested in reading more.

God’s Debris by Scott Adams. It’s actually a thought experiment, but if you’re interested in the existence of gods and such, you should definitely check it out. It’s refreshingly simple and brilliant.

    Here are a few:

    Aquinas, The Five Ways
Samuel Clarke ,The Argument from Contingency

Richard Taylor, The Cosmological Argument: A Defense
William Rowe, An Examination of the Cosmological Argument

William Paley, The Watch and the Watchmaker

David Hume, A Critique of the Design Argument

Richard Swinburne’s The Argument from Design

C.D. Broad’s, The Argument from Religious Experience

Most are arguments for but some are against. Just for kicks, i suggest you read something by Richard Dawkins on the radical side against. ; )

Kant’s proofs, Kierkegaard’s existentialism w/ Christianity, Bertrand Russell’s rationalism. It would probably also be useful to read some evolutionary thought meant for a scientific audience (ie no polemicists), Russian literature (Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Bulgakov) and medieval literature like Beowulf or something else that shows the Pagan/Christan conflict as well – it still has a relevance today.

Nietzsche annoys me, but for many reasons. Nietzsche is not God.
