Religion has been guilty of criticizing with Morality & Ethics. Defining right & wrong is a necessary part of life. As an ‘individual’ we have to decide for ourselves what that is. As long as we do not do it at the expense of others. Morality & Ethics is more about not living selfishly. So, who gets to decide what right and wrong is? If we all decide and come up with differant answers there will be a lot of chaos.

We should use logic to come up with these answers. The question isn’t who should decide what right and wrong is, rather it is who can figure these out.

We must each decide. But upon what grounds will you base your decision?

If we follow our instincts only, we find that most people agree on what is right and wrong – stealing, killing, raping, lying…all wrong by all honest standards.

If we follow most major religions, guess what? They extol these same values! Yes, they may add a few more that are cultural or technical (one God / many Gods, what’s His/Her name, etc.), but they all really say the same thing by and large: We not only must respect each other, but we must also find and fulfill our purpose.

They say ‘the devil is in the details’ and they may be right, but God is still the big picture.

Truth is universal. There is no such thing as YOUR truth and MY truth. Anywhere you go in the world, 1+1=2. That can never change and that is truth. What you decide or feel is irrelevant. It comes down to WHAT IS. Every culture knows that killing someone is wrong. They may put a good face on and cover the emotion but at the heart it is known to be wrong. These moral codes are written on us. It of course has been corrupted.
