religion
Hammy asked:

I want something that’s unbiased and presents both sides of the argument. One that presents the most arguments and criticisms and covers all areas, like arguments for and against the existence of god and the religious belief system and stuff like that. I read Peter Vardy’s ‘The Thinkers Guide to God’ and couldn’t help thinking it was a little bias towards religion.

Yes, I’m aware I already asked this on the Religion and Spirituality section but I didn’t get any helpful answers and I hope I will get it here. After all, it is to do with philosophy.

The only book I can think of that is unbiased is the bible. I say that because the warts and all are recorded in the old and new testaments.
I’m sure you’ve gotten this reply on the other sites but seriously if you study the bible you’re going to find that there is a lot that is painfully honest. The hypocrisy, the lies, the cheating, the deaths, the murders, the prostitution, the deciet, the foolishness, the idiocy, the proud and vain, the wise and intelligent, the faithful and the faithless, the curses and the blessings, as well as the courageous, and strong, the upright and innocents. The history and the truth are recorded and in all of it the books show that God will still forgive and still loves us despite ourselves.
The philosophies of all types of men and women are in those books collected in the bible and man it is one heck of a reading and a serious study of human nature. Those books have all of the physcologies and philosophies of men running rampant throughout the bible.
Take a good look at it. Use other sources to see what is going on there, like men and women who would write a treatise on Exodus and try to explain what was going on in those days. Or someone who would write comparative notes on Daniel, Ezekial & Revelation.
It is a fascinating study of the human condition but I don’t think that anyone has ever brought that aspect of the books of the bible to you before ….have they? Try it, you may well be surprised because the books don’t pull their punches.
