Ironpump asked:

Is there a limit? Let’s say you accept Jesus, then you become a sinner again. For example, you get really pissed off and kill someone, or you work on the sabbath, or something like that. Is your salvation null and void at this point? Do you need to accept Jesus again as your personal lord and savior to wipe the slate clean?

As many times as you can say those magic words. It’s like, “how many times can I ask dumb quesions on Yahoo!?” As many as you flippin want! And just as irrelevant.

Accept Jesus as many times as you need to. He knows we’re human and sinners. That’s why He died on the Cross for us.

If you believe in God and Jesus and Jesus absolves you of your sins, then every time you sin you would have to ask Him for forgiveness and mean it.

  10. John K on October 17th, 2008 4:05 am

correct, but God will know if you’re sincere when you ask for forgiveness so you can’t just ask for forgiveness with the intent to sin again..

  11. ... on October 18th, 2008 12:05 pm

God and Jesus forgive, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try your best to do good and to stay away from sin as much as you can.

Jesus said “Not everyone who says ‘Lord. Lord” will enter the Kingdom of Heaven”.

I think one of the things that could mean is that there’s a limit to it, as in the case you’ve suggested.

For instance, I seriously doubt even if ****** had asked forgiveness a split second before he shot himself that it made a difference.

Well, you can return to Him as many times as you want. He will always be there. Just like the prodigal son.

While I never killed anyway, back when I believed, I asked Jesus into my heart and then had a crisis of faith, but turned back to the Lord, and asked him back. I seemed to get no reply both times, so I tried again. After that, I had my big Conversion to the truth of Atheism, and that was that. I guess you could keep asking, but you’ll receive no reply, as God and a divine Jesus are nothing more than myths.

You obviously don’t understand what it means to be a servant of Christ. To be a Christian requires a life of servitude to Christ. You know how the peasants in medieval times had lords over them? In the same way, Jesus is the Lord; the King of our lives. So to fall into a state of sin, where you would do anything like kill someone, would be living in a state of rebellion against Christ. When you truly come to Christ and submit to Him, He will be Lord over your life. Now you may fall into sin yes, but you will immediately fight it and repent (forsake) the sin, and pick yourself back up.

You only serve one master. Either you serve Jesus, or you serve sin. If you’re serving sin, you are not serving Jesus. Following Jesus results in eternal life; following sin results in eternal banishment in Hell. If you have a life filled with sin (as every believer before they come to Christ), and you repent from it and come to Christ, you will be forgiven all your sins because Christ will claim the punishment for those sins, since He died on the cross.

If you have truly made Jesus Lord of your life, you will always repent from sin and seek God’s will instead of sin.

I think all of us being equally imperfect in this life and perpetual sinners – have to recommit ourselves and our lives, reestablish a connection personally with our Lord & Savior many times through out our lives. That’s the grace of repentance and Christ’s atonement to each of us. Many mainstream christians and born againers will tell you that you need only accept the Lord ONCE – but I beg to differ… I think as we struggle, falter and fall many times thru out lives through trials, sin and sorrow we need to renew that acceptance and recommit again endless times perhaps….

    Once isn’t enough.

Do you need to accept Jesus again as your personal lord and savior to wipe the slate clean?

You need to stick to the program (all 10 “steps” aka Commandments ).

    God love you!

Once you become a Christian it doesn’t mean you aren’t going to sin. I’m a Christian of 10 years now and I know that I have sinned MANY times in that time period. Christians are NOT perfect people, we are just forgiven! If we REALLY mean it when we ask for forgiveness from God then he will always forgive us. We have a LOVING and FORGIVING God…He wants nothing more than for us to be happy! He loves us more than any man or woman ever will!

“For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”

Please feel free to email me to find out more about God and being a Christian… I will give you only honest answers and I will quote direct scripture from the bible.

you only get saved once. that is all it takes. and if you get mad and kill someone after that, then if you are truly sorry, you repent. God is faithful to forgive us. He loves us. His grace wipes the slate clean. it is impossible not to sin after you get saved. and one sin is as bad as the next. so in God’s eyes killing someone is the same as having *** with someone your not married to. He knows will are never going to be perfect. so He forgives us.

    Once.
Why are you asking these questions. It doesn’t seem like you have done this yet.

  22. Bro. Dan on November 8th, 2008 4:12 pm

In principle, there is no limit. But God can see your motives. Even if you go to Heaven, you will still be judged according to your works. There are gradations there, as in “the least in Heaven”.

I believe that salvation begins at the moment of conversion and continues for all eternity. Outward appearances can be deceiving. Some say they are saved, as Judas was in the bible, yet Jesus called him the Devil. God promised us everlasting life when we are saved, to me that means just that – life everlasting. Christ said:” Ye must be born again.” He did not say:”Ye must be born again and again and again.” If a person is truly saved, their life will change. One can’t help that. At the same time we will always be sinners, but we will do our best not to sin and when we do, we confess our sin to Jesus Christ, ask for forgiveness and move on. The parable of the prodigal son gives this example. He once was close to his father, then left and led a worldly life. When he lost all his money and friends and had nothing to look forward to in life he decided to return to his father. He was ashamed and did not feel worthy but he came back anyway. His father saw him coming home and prepared a feast and welcomed him home with open arms. No speeches or corrections. The father was happy to see his son come home. Unconditional love. That’s how it is with a saved Christian.

Salvation is a “one” time covenant agreement between God and Man, through Jesus Christ. So, if you “think” you got Salvation and then think you can loose, by sinning! Then you “never” really got it to start with!

Upon Salvation “according to the scriptures” and personal present within…The Holy Spirit of God moves in and set up his resident!

Sin in our live will grieve the Holy Spirit! And will becaome a heavy weight upon us! But, never will he pack up and move out!

Now, on the subject of Sinning! We are all born sinners.

Where the only different between a Sinner and a Saint ( as the scriptures” calls the believer…

One is forgiven and the other one aint!

However, if you are a born again child of God!

You will in deed sooner or latter, feel his parental hand of disipline, as a Father!

That is “as” a father would disipline is child!

But, as the scriptures speaks; Who would want to come under the disipline had of God???

  25. Noah's Ark on November 13th, 2008 9:00 am

Acceptance has nothing to do with it …. Forgiveness and the asking of it is what saves you from nothingness…. No one gets to the Father without going thru his son Jesus ….. Jesus is not God himself , he is the son of God ….

  26. Becky L on November 13th, 2008 11:31 pm

one thing that people dont get is what being saved really means…this is a big question that always is asked ..the whole “can i be saved again when i mess up?”….but in my opinion..when someone is saved..there is a change that happens..that they didnt make happen themselves… so lets say someone accepts Jesus like you said and than kills..i dont think they ever accepted Jesus to begin with if you think about it… cuz killing someone would have been too strong on their conscience..but im not one to say they were or not..im just saying my viewpoint… a lot of people claim they are Christians when they actually arent… but if someone does mess up while being a Christian..they just have to repent..its not like they lost their Salvation..because to be honest no one is perfect..so if we lost our salvation every time we messed up..no one would be saved…

Dear, there are two kinds of sins, one which leads to eternity death and one which do lead but can be rectified. The sins which we do before we accept god as our savior is the second one and the first one is sins which we do after knowing him. However we are humans we tumble and fall in many circumstances, so Jesus is Love he do not **** people, thats the reason he came to this world and gave his life on cross to save us and rose up from death to prove he is God the Lord Almighty and there are no other gods in this world like him.
When he forgave a prostitute, won’t he forgive us? when he can forgive a dacoit, when he forgive a person who even killed people who was along with him in cross, won’t he forgive us?
He will surely and 1000% sure and till this world which we live end his words and love towards us will never fade. So don’t worry he will surely forgive us even after we sin against him after accepting him. Am the example for this. But we have to open our hearts to him and confess our sins truely to him, then what ever comes or goes his forgiveness will never leave you. And any more help regarding this or any more clarifications and help which you need under this sun please do mail to my ID and i will surely help you.
    Regards
    Loved One

1 time. Once you are saved you can’t lose your salvation. If you fell from the faith you weren’t saved to start with.

Many people get emotional and come to the alter without true repentance. Nor do they make the vow to make Jesus Lord and Master over their lives. Everybody wants Jesus as Savior but don’t won’t to serve Him. It is a group package if you want Him as Savior you must also have Him as Lord. Amen

Accept Jesus as many times as you need to. He knows we’re human and sinners. That’s why He died on the Cross for us.
but i advise you not to sin that much he will never **** you he will only **** your sin he cood forgive a killer but wen you get closer to god when you get angry or so you will learn no to do that

  30. WealthManagement81 on November 21st, 2008 2:04 pm

Once saved, always saved. Your works do not determine your salvation, only your heart. You can’t make your salvation invalaid because you screwed up. We are all ***** ups, and that is the point God it trying to make with us. We are not perfect, and that’s why we need a little help from him. We will all have a dirty slate, and you can’t wipe it clean…and we don’t have to worry about making it clean because Jesus has us covered if we allow him to.
