religion
Mike P asked:

I am curious if anyone knows of any studies out there that explore the affect religion has on a child’s ability to learn other things. If a child is raised to believe in things like God, Jesus or Muhammad does it limit or increase the child’s ability to learn things like science or math?

I think we have simple US history which can answer this question. Our nation has historically been a Christian majority and until the Secular Progressives took over, we led the world.

None, it has to do with the parents. If the parents are willing to commit their time and energy into their children. Of course that is pretty generalized, and there are exceptions, but for normal healthy children, the above applies.

Does a study even need to be done?

Who typically sits at the back of the class making paper airplanes and thinks they know everything? Who wears all black, listens to metal, and is an average to poor student?

    Not Christians.

    Interesting question.

I guess it depends on the kind, and the extent, of religious teaching that is forced on the child.

Ruth, the truth is, that until the religious fundamentalists infected our government, we led the world.
