If all Muslims can be judged by the handful fighting our troops in Iraq, why can’t all Christians be judged accordingly? If one Christian killed one innocent civilian in iraq, doesn’t that make Christianity a violent religion, as per your own standards?

I could not have said it any better. I would certainly like to hear the answers to this.

    Touche! You are my hero!

This was in response’s to Jayden’s Mommy’s question, no?

  3. Gary D on November 5th, 2009 2:19 pm

Neither judgement would be correct. That is why the troops in Iraq are not killing everyone…only the people who are trying to attack the troops.

they should have thought of that before they bombed the twin towers

Hypocrisy. I think the majority of Muslims and Christians are lunatics.

People are afraid. That doesn’t condemn their religion or non religion..

Two false premises in your question:

    1) The assumption that this is a Christian nation
    2) That anyone is doing what they’re doing in the name of Christianity

GWB said that “all religions can get you into heaven”. But Jesus said that He alone is the only way to heaven. So is GWB promoting Christianity? Of course not.

You mix politics and religion worse than those you accuse of doing it.

Christianity has no place for Violence.

Christ said “Love thy neighbor as thyself”

GOD said “Thy shall not kill”.

All who profess to be Christian are not.

there’s no such thing as “peaceful” anything , that’s what i think

If the US attacks Iraq. That does not equate to Christians killing people.

When you cut off someone’s head while yelling Allah is great, then we can assume that you are killing for your religion.

The US Army is not a Christian Army.

That’s a good question. As so, why do people in general claim to fear God? Still many people of various religions would do anything, being nothing short of giving their own lives, just to prove their dedication to a flag. Could it be that they are fighting for their nation in the name of God, like many would say? Whether they are attacking innocent citizens or not, they put themselves in a negative position by fighting in war. Do you know of any religion that would not go to war at any cost? If so, likely this group is of Christian denomination. At the same time their are many people who will profess to being Christian whether they have fought or are presently fighting in war. Though this seems to be the case, this isn’t in harmony with what the Bible teaches. Jesus said to one of his apostles, at (Matthew 26: 52) “Return your sword to it’s place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword.” This was said at a time when governmental authority was being used unjustly against the Son of God himself. FOR WHAT MORE WORTHY CAUSE COULD A PERSON HAVE FOUGHT, IF THAT WERE THE RIGHT THING TO DO? So if one who professes to be a Christian is fighting in war, its not because of what the Bible teaches. It’s because of the inaccurate teachings of what man believes God wants of us. “It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his own step.” (Jeremiah 10: 23)

You need to see who is doing the killings. It is muslims killing other muslims. Just to inform you uninformed liberals.

  14. Cake or Death? on November 25th, 2009 12:58 am

Killing in the name of religion may be deplorable, but killing in the name of a country is just absurd.

All of the people in the U.S. military are Christians? There are atheists and agnostics in the military. Christianity isn’t a peaceful religion but Jesus promoted peace. Christianity often does not reflect Christ-like behavior. It’s not violent or peaceful, there is a time for war and a time for peace. I would not connect the military with Christianity because many Christians including myself do not support the war in Iraq. It is also true that many non Christians supported the war in Iraq as well as the fact that the military did not choose to go to war, the feds did.

    EDIT:
You seem like an intelligent person. I now understand what you mean by this question.

well tell the muslims that are extreme to stop using the innocent ones as shields. . . but yes, both sides have extremes and the extremes are usually both willing to go to the extremes by using the innocent people that happen to get caught between the two sides.

some christians are trying to make the US army a christian army
some christians will never apply what they claim about other religions to their own, it’s like they have a blind spot that covers the hypocrisy

Anyone who thinks what’s going on in Iraq is about religion is a little touched in the head. One side in the conflict may utilize the lack of education and a nationalism of a sort in a religious sense to obtain power and control–but the whole thing is a simple power struggle. Totalitarian regimes often use religion to gain secular power. One must, as a country, decide whether to do something about it or not. While people may infer that America is a big bad bully–we simply were in a situtation where we had a country who was violating the terms of the cease fire from the first war they had with the rest of the world, were rearming in direct contravention of this cease fire–demonstrated no desire whatsoever to work with the rest of the world. The world made a mistake in the 30′s with a similiar man in germany and the world paid a heavy price. However one likes or dislikes George Bush and Tony Blair–they basically made the choice that they preferred to learn from history and not repeat it’s mistakes. Agian–none of this was particularly about religion–it was about the clash of power.

Who says Christians are attacking innocent civilians in Iraq? I challenge your assertion.

First of all the U.S. Armed Forces are not killing innocents.

Secondly, the U.S. Armed Forces do not represent Christians.

    Kencana:
All Iraq is not Muslim. Iraq has Christians, and other religions.

  21. GREG on December 12th, 2009 8:34 am

It is like anything, it’s easier to say rather than do. Look at the history of Christianity, the Inquisition, the crusades, etc….. Is that what Jesus said? To gather arms and use violence? No, on the contrary. All he says as far as using armor to defend is against satan, a war against our souls.
Me personally, I follow what Jesus says. Regardless!!!

  22. jb125 on December 13th, 2009 12:22 pm

Yes indeed. It’s the case of the pots calling the kettles black. The so-called Christian soldiers coming all the way from the US attacked Iraq, killed thousands of innocent civilians and children, destroyed all major infrastructures in Iraq, for reasons only best known to George W. Bush, who himself is supposed to be a devout Christian himself. Why I might add? I wonder how Christians at large (if they do have any conscience at all) feel about this!

  23. Vitamin C on December 14th, 2009 5:17 am

If they were using their religion as an excuse for committing violence against civilians, and the excuse was based on actual teachings of Christianity, then yes, people would have a very good reason to blame it on the religion of Christianity.

Anyone who associates themselves with such a religion should be prepared to be treated with distrust right along with the people who followed those violent teachings.

When a religion’s Holy Book condones and encourages violence and war (especially against civilians), then people who are not of that religion have every right to view that religion as a violent religion.

If the teachings of that religion do not condone violence against innocents, then there is no reason to blame the religion. In fact, I’m pretty sure that Christianity encourages people to “turn the other cheek” and “love their enemies.” I am also unaware of any New Testament teachings that encourage violence against civilians or whole groups of people. If you know of any, please post them.

I don’t know enough about Islam to judge, but if their Holy writings encourage violence against civilians or whole groups of people, then that would be a good reason to distrust anyone who chooses to be a member of that religion. It’s only common sense.

  24. Kencana on December 15th, 2009 11:40 am

    Jayden’s ♥mommy♥:

She is too stupid. Iraq didn’t involve in the Twin Tower attack. USA say it is Osama, not Saddam…Are you really stupid?

    Tommy W:

Yet many Christian involve in Iraq War… they are infidels? Or they just been forgiven for mass murder of Iraqi because they accept Jesus christ as saviour?

    bugYA:

Bugya that sounds stupid. America conquer the land by mass killing, and catalyze the seperation between Muslims Iraq.

    Michael T:
all Iraqi is Muslims, even and they didn’t represent a Muslim community, why stupid Jayden’s ♥mommy♥ don’t take note that earlier?

    =)

    Well-said.

  26. llanolyn on December 18th, 2009 5:07 pm

Christianity is a peaceful religion because Christ preached a message of peace. However, there are many Christians who fail to live up to this ideal. That fact does not change the fact, that Christ’s teachings were very peaceful. Turn the other cheek, forgive, let he who is without sin… and all that.

  27. Ravage on December 20th, 2009 2:47 pm

Going by that standard, any one who has ever commited a violent act makes their entire religion a “violent one”.
