Take for example a question like

“why are christians such bigots for not accepting homosexuality ?”

or

“why are christians such sexists for not supporting a woman’s right to abort ?”

The premise of these questions are demanding that people go completely against their religious belief ? Or that a religion change its doctrine, to suit everyone else.

So how can you seriously demand that a Christian or a Muslim, accept something that goes against his doctrine ?

That is as rediculous as going to Japan and demanding that everyone stop bowing !

“So how can you seriously demand that a Christian or a Muslim, accept something that goes against his doctrine ?”

Because it’s not their doctrine. The doctrine is not actually part of the person as an individual. If it was their own doctrine, they would have written it themselves. People should have their own opinions, not based solely on one religious doctrine or text.

It’s okay to be influenced by the doctrines of others, but they should not dictate every aspect of your life or the opinions that you possess on every topic.

Why do people come to religion and spirituality section to proselytize?

    Sorry, but two points:

A: It’s against their INTERPRETATION of their holy books. And since the quotes to support it are usually cherry-picked to ignore things that would affect them personally which are also ‘sins’, it’s not a reason; it’s an excuse.

B: I don’t see the Japanese trying to make it illegal for others not to bow. Your beliefs are your own, you do NOT get to enforce them on others.

    In other words, you fail.

I think that your skin is too thin. Are you one of those that reports everybody you don’t agree with?

They have little else to do with their time and religion is an easy target, the subject being difficult to prove one way or another.

If I have no interest in a particular topic, I simply don’t bother reading it.

“That is as rediculous[sic] as going to Japan and demanding that everyone stop bowing!”

I know, right? I mean, what right does anyone have to tell people to change their culture?

That’s as ridiculous as going to Afghanistan and demanding that they stop stoning **** victims, or going to China and demand that they stop using child slave labor to produce the Nikes you’re wearing, or going to Columbia and demand that they stop producing cocaine to peddle on our streets, or like going back in time to America in the 1800s and telling them that it’s wrong to treat other people like property.

The nerve some people have! Don’t they know that people’s culture should never be questioned?

It is out of a deep sense of love and a fatherly desire to instruct and admonish that they curse your God and insult your intelligence.
That is because people are just naturally good !

I have sympathy with your sentiment but it also happens a lot with other groups of people here. I´ve seen lots of questions along the lines of “are atheists evil or stupid?” or whatever. I think one big problem here is lack of mutual respect, and it´s everywhere.

    Gomenasai….

People come here hoping for the truth to be revealed to them and doubting fully that it will ..

the truth was born in a manger and spoke the words of his father in heaven .. words of peace and love ..the very words of life to anyone who would come and follow him..His path leads to a cross of death and life through it…those who will follow will die with him and be raised into the life we were always meant to have ..the life we’ve all longed for .His mercy and love endures forever .Take hold the hem of his garment.

This is the only place in their pathetic little lives that they can try to make their selves seem relevant.

In their real lives they totally irrelevant, and they know that.

Most of them are teenagers who think they are smarter than everyone else.

I have talked with people from many different religions. They have all disagreed with me on fundamental concepts, but none have treated me as bad as the atheists. Atheists are the only group that has called me stupid, openly insulted my God, beliefs, holy book, or character. And they call us Christians the intolerant ones.

Are you saying that you agree that these doctrines are sexist, homophobic, and that these practices should continue. These people are trying to get you to question the morality of these doctrines that were made up by people along time ago. The majority of these teaching is to be tolerant and then you find one passage that some how relates to hating one group of people and you guys throw tolerance out the window. It is hypocritical and in a society were people should be uniting getting along religious people try and separate and say if you are not like us exactly then you are evil. We come on these chat things to argue and maybe convince you that you are wasting your life following these teachings. At least we are not like some (a very small #) religious people and use violence and fear to argue our point of view.

  16. Kalea on March 13th, 2009 8:20 pm

Probably for the same reason that Christians go to the LGBT board and post things such as,

“Why be ********** when you know you’ll go to hell”

    “Why do gays **** Jesus?”

“Why be *** and not straight? *** is sinning and God hates sinners”
    And the like

I don’t come here just to insult the religious. I don’t come here to insult anybody. I come here purely because I am spiritual and I like to share my beliefs with others.

  18. heathenfidel on March 18th, 2009 12:01 am

Nobody has asked those exact questions, nor anything equivalent as far as I know.
You are a hypocrite for doing the same thing (you’re ranting and raving about atheists).

  19. Frou Frou on March 18th, 2009 6:50 am

same reason the religious come here just to insult the non religions
