because someone would get offended and you could end up with a law suit on your hands.

Cause most religions are creepy, especially Christianity.

In the workplace: Because it can create a hostile work environment for others of different faiths, and because it is inappropriate or could be perceived as proselytizing.

In other settings, for similar reasons. It can be the source of dispute, it can offend others, etc.

because it tends to really tick people off when you don’t agree with their beliefs…….

Discussions about religion always get heated and someone always gets offended. It’s like talking about ***. It’s inappropriate. Talk about it on your own time.

I don’t discuss religion in any setting that is other than private.

I don’t think they should. I love talking to people about religion.
You just have to be nice about it and not attacking in your conversation as not to offend anyone.

Religion is a personal thing to many people, and you never know how people are going to react to religious comments.
Your boss might be a devout catholic and if you make some joke about the pope, you might find yourself on the unemployment line.

    They shouldn’t!

Mar 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Rev 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

There are two subjects that can, and often do, lead to disagreements. Those are religion and politics.

The problem is that most people invest a lot of their ego into their religious and political affiliations. When someone disagrees with them, they tend to take it very personally and will start to argue.

To maintain peace in the work place or social setting it is best to not bring those subjects up.

    1. It’s BORING.
    2. Many people are offended, especially when Fundies try pushing their religion onto others.
    3. It’s not the right thing to do.
    4. Keep it at home!
    5. Why would you WANT to?

Because someone like me will make you look like a fool if you do.

because it is one of those things that never get resolved when two people have different views and are speaking about it. So we must take it out for that reason. It is like if I am a huge cristian and an atheist works with me. Do you think our boss would like to hear us arguing about it? No he wouldn’t. And do you think that argument would ever be won by one or the other? No it wouldn’t.

Because religion & politics are both touchy subjects. Most people don’t share the same views as other people. And from my experience, people tend to get more pissed off on these two subjects. Besides, religion doesn’t belong in the workplace unless you work at a church.

  18. ozbluei on August 6th, 2009 2:38 pm

    It is inappropriate.
I was taught that sex, politics and religion are not topics of general conversation. People have strong beliefs and are easily offended. At work, we have to deal with the same people day after day and so it is better not to seriously offend people.

Most work places prohibit religious discussion along with political discussion

This not only prevents proselytizing (pimping your faith) ,but keeps the work place impartial -as it should be

  22. mulima14 on August 15th, 2009 7:07 pm

It is religion and politics! because people can become very emotional, biased and try to convert you. Because there is no right or wrong answer but some people can be fanatic about it and discussions can get heated up and antagonistic especially if people are close minded. Best thing is to refrain from discussing either one at work. Keep it to yourself.
